UPROXX- Best New R&B

It’s been a little while since Miami singer Nil Bambu released music to the world, with her last pair of records coming in 2017. However, with a new year ahead of her, she’s back to treat her fans and it kicks off with “Incomplete.” Bambu says of the song, “I wanted to sonically create a moment that people could feel when you’re so in love with someone, but you know it’s not working out. You know this is a bad idea, like it’s over, but that doesn’t deter or take away from the fact that you love this person.”

EARMILK

Trinidadian-born and Florida-raised singer-songwriter Nil Bambu made a splash in 2017 with her debut project Diamond Sutra. The project saw her coming into her true being with an unapologetic look at delicate matters concerning the heart and her own self-growth beyond the shackles of fear. As the years passed with her gaining new experiences, she continues the self-exploration on her forthcoming project.

THE RNB BEACON

Contemporary R&B is continuing on its upward swing, and Nil Bambu is back to put her own stamp on it. After the 2017 release of her debut EP titled Diamond Sutra, Nil left a trail of bread-crumbs for listeners to follow, keeping her in the game while she focused her energy on learning the industry, developing her sound and maintaining a sheer devotion to remaining true to herself through it all.

Just days after sharing her most recent single, “Incomplete”, Nil sat down to chat with the RNB Beacon about what has brought her here and what is to come.

LANDON BUFORD

“Incomplete” is a love story that is told through dance and a voice that is both soothing and sensual. Nil Bambu executes the tale perfectly, delivering a flawless rendition.

Nil Bambu is talented and experienced and made a good move with the first release of her debut in 2017 called “diamond sutra” and many more after that .after hearing about this project, we had to feature her on our page.

R&B Artists to Watch in 2022

When it comes to embodying the elements of seduction and intimacy, Nil Bambu does it effortlessly. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Bambu bestows a vocal prowess that can be hypnotic. She dabbles in late-'90s grooves, fusing contemporary sounds made up of warping 808 bass, meditative atmospheres, jabbing kicks, and snappy snares. And with Bambu's Caribbean background, she's more than capable of making dancehall records that are just as vibrant, including on "Believe."

LYRICAL LEMONADE

In a world that’s created full of fast, luxurious cars, nothing steals the spotlight from Nil for even a second, and she’s clearly the center of attention no matter what scene you watch. Some shots show her lounging out on the hood of some of these lavish vehicles while others get a bit more intricate. During one specific shot, she seems to get into a bit of an argument with a love interest of hers, causing her to lay down the hammer and show that she calls the shots as she gets out of the car and goes on her way.

We’ve been waiting on the songwriting vocalist to reemerge for quite some time now. But “On Game”, it’s strong impact on our ears and brains was worth the wait! It would be a surprise if this song doesn’t become an instant favorite of yours.

MIAMI NEW TIMES ARTICLE

R&B has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years as new artists remix the basic elements of the genre — soulful lyrics, sexy rhythms, and a helping of heartbreak — with modern messaging and attitude. Nil Bambu, with slow-dance tracks that highlight the clear, whispery tones of her voice, is no exception. And on her 2019 single "Right There," she adds some feminist revenge to the mix. Lyrically, the song is a seduction, with a chorus repeating, "I wanna kiss it right there/I wanna touch you right there, right there, right there.”

AMBIENT VIBES MUSIC INTERVIEW

1. What is your creative process like? How do you find inspiration?

  • My creative process is pretty simple. I like to stay open and not box myself too much because you never know how the magic is going to happen. By staying open, it’s easy to find inspiration, whether it be from personal experiences, things I see, experiences of others, or something as simple as how I’m feeling in that moment.
